Although pestemals require slightly more care than traditional terry towels, they also last far longer and get softer with each wash. 
For routine washing, wash pestamal on cool or med/cool and dry on medium heat. Avoid over-drying.
Do not use fabric softener (it is not necessary and damages the integrity of the cotton).
