Vintage Indigo Throw Blanket from Mali - Onze

  • Beautiful hand-woven and dyed indigo cotton blankets from the Dogon tribes of Mali. Some pieces are dyed using a resist technique, others are pure blue and some have beautiful hand-embroidery in pop colors; all are gorgeous. This blanket is woven with dark indigo and cream threads with pale orange stripes throughout and discrete but fun embroidery in raspberry pink and pop yellow throughout (as pictured).
  • We seek out the very best quality pieces, all were used, loved, and are extremely soft from laundering and wear. The fabric is made from hand-woven strips that are stitched together to create a large cloth. They were commonly used as wrap-around skirts and have been repaired repeatedly over the years. We've scoured each blanket using a professional textile detergent and made minor repairs.
  • If you are someone who admires "patina" and pieces with a story, these are for you! Lovely draped over the arm of the couch, the foot of the bed or on the wall as a large art piece.
    > each blanket is unique and tells the story of the maker and it's past life
    > small holes, spot repairs and other signs of use only add to the charm of the piece
    > size: 39" x  54" exclusive of fringe
    > each piece is pre-laundered using a professional textile detergent

Details & Care: Launder alone, in cool water with a mild detergent. Hang to dry.
